Local Artist Commissioned to Present Paula Deen with Appreciation Necklace

Annapolis, Maryland, February 2007 - Laura Moore, a local jewelry designer, has been commissioned to create a custom necklace for Paula Deen, professional chef on the Food Network, by the Junior League of Hampton Roads. The necklace will be given to Ms. Deen in appreciation for her work with the Food Bank of the Virginia Peninsula.

Laura was awarded the assignment by one of her clients in Hampton Roads and through her association with the Junior League; Laura is an active member of the Junior League of Annapolis. The necklace will be presented to Ms. Deen at "Cooking with Paula Deen", a cooking demonstration benefiting the Food Bank of the Virginia Peninsula, Saturday, February 10th at the Hampton Roads Convention Center in Hampton, Virginia.

The necklace is handmade by Laura and features a gemstone called Kyanite, which has a natural array of medium blue hues and is vitreous to almost pearly in luster, blue freshwater pearls, clear Swarovski crystals, and a pendant made from a sterling silver spoon with a "P" monogram. The clasp and findings are also sterling silver. "It's an honor to be asked to design a necklace for Paula Deen. Her success story is truly remarkable and inspiring to women entrepreneurs everywhere, having started her business out of her home and building it from the ground up. I can certainly relate to that," said Moore, "I have been watching her show and thinking about what colors would look best on her, I hope she'll be pleased with this specially created piece."

Laura works out of her studio in Annapolis, designing original jewelry and wire-wrapped home accents. Most of her work is comprised of semi-precious stones, sterling and fine silver. She is also a faculty member at Anne Arundel Community College, where she teaches jewelry design courses.

Laura Moore Designs was founded in 2001. Laura's work is available at art shows throughout Maryland and Virginia, on her Web site, through private home shows, and various retail outlets. Custom studio appointments are also available. For more information, visit www.lauramooredesigns.com or call 410-267-8540.
